nVIDIA GeForce 9: Anamenetai ton Martio stin agora

Αν και δεν έχουν διαρρεύσει πολλές πληροφορίες ακόμα για την νέα κάρτα της nVIDIA η παρουσία της αρχίζει να γίνεται ολοένα και πιο μεγάλη. Έτσι η νέα σειρά GeForce 9 θα στηρίζεται στο chip G100 και θα είναι δύο φορές γρηγορότερη από την κάρτα που θα κυκλοφορήσει στα τέλη Ιανουαρίου που θα περιλαμβάνει δύο G92.

H πρώτη κάρτα της σειράς θα είναι η GeForce 9800 GX2 με δύο 65nm D9P chips δουλεύοντας σε SLI. Άλλα χαρακτηριστικά της κάρτας είναι το 1gb μνήμης της από οποίο θα ξεκινάει με 256-bit memory μέχρι εκδόσεις που θα φτάνουν τα 2gb interface. Η ημερομηνία κυκλοφοριας της θα είναι η 19 Φεβρουαρίου. Η επόμενη κάρτα που θα ακολουθήσει θα είναι η GeForce 9600 GT η οποία θα αποτελείται από 65nm D9M chip και θα ξεκινάει με μνήμη στα 512 MB GDDR3 με χρονισμό στα 500MHz core και με τιμή που θα ξεκινάει από τα $150. Η κάρτα αυτή δεν θα υποστηρίζει το DirectX 10.1. Επίσης η κυκλοφορία της αναμένεται στα μέσα Φεβρουαρίου

Σύμφωνα με το site HardOCP, η επόμενη ναυαρχίδα της Nvidia θα είναι η GeForce 9800 GX2.Οι πληροφορίες του site θέλουν την 9800 GX2 να αποτελείται από δύοπυρήνες G90, βελτιστοποιημένους και συρρικνωμένους [στα 65nm]. Φυσικά,θα αντικαταστήσει την 8800 Ultra στην κορυφή της πυραμίδας.

Στον τομέα των επιδόσεων, η κάρτα φημολογείται πως είναι τουλάχιστον κατά 30% ταχύτερη από μία 8800 Ultra ενώ θα υποστηρίζει διάταξη Quad SLI.Αν και δεν έχουν γίνει γνωστές πολλές τεχνικές λεπτομέρειες, οι ίδιεςπληροφορίες θέλουν την 9800 GX2 να χρησιμοποιεί frame buffer 1GB και ναδιαθέτει 256 stream processors. Κανένας λόγος δεν έχει γίνει για τοmemory bus interface, ούτε φυσικά για τους χρονισμούς. Όσο για το πότε,η κάρτα αναμένεται να κάνει την εμφάνισή της στα τέλη Φεβρουαρίου μεαρχές Μαρτίου.

NVIDIA’s yet-to-be released GeForce 9800 GX2 in the “flesh.” We reveal some of the specs and what should be expected.

The best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 card is as an 8800 GPU that has been die shrunk to 65nm and placed in an SLI configuration in a “single” card. The 9800 GX2 is very reminiscent of 7950 GX2 of days past. (And we loved the 7950 GX2 at launch, but terrible support and diminishing returns soon painted it as one of NVIDIA’s biggest failures since the 5800 series.)

The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the 8800 Ultra (single GPU) card in NVIDIA’s high-end product line up. The 9800 GX2 is said to be at least 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra. While it is not clear from the pictures below, we are told it will support “Quad SLI.” GeForce 9800 GX2

All of the information here comes from sources overseas that we consider trustworthy. Obviously there are some specifications that could be a bit more clear, especially on the memory bus. We would expect to see two 768MB frame buffers per GPU here, but that is not what is spelled out. We are guessing 512MB per GPU currently.
